Come on in…
Heath + Down is an interior design studio based in the heart of Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, working on residential properties in Surrey, Sussex and Kent.
Founded by Nicky Guymer, the studio was created from a simple idea: that homes should feel personal, layered and genuinely lived in—not designed for show.
The Approach
I work in a way that feels relaxed, intuitive and collaborative.
Rather than imposing a fixed style, I help you uncover what already works in your home - and build on it. That might mean rethinking layout, introducing colour, or sourcing pieces that bring depth, texture and character.
The result is a home that feels considered, but never overworked.
Established on 5 principles - texture, nature, vintage, feel, light - and by mixing old with new, high with low, I create homes that are curated, rather than decorated. Layered spaces that feel like they’ve been put together over a number of years, with the freedom to be added to in the future.
Discover Our Way
Say hello…
Nicky at Heath + Down studio | store
I cut my teeth working for some of the world’s top interiors magazines and interiors photographers as an interior stylist. My previous home featured in magazines from the UK to Australia and online at the eponymous Design*Sponge (RIP!), causing it to go viral on Pinterest, and resulting in it being used as a location for TV commercials. I have written and styled for the UK home retailer Habitat (in its pre-supermarket-owned heyday), have been a regular contributor to media outlets such as The Journal @ Mr Porter and have worked as the deputy editor of 91 Magazine.
My interiors consultancy allows me to bring my skill and experience to create beautiful, lived-in homes filled with curated products, useful items and loved heirlooms.
Originally based in London, 2024 saw a business name change and the launch of Heath + Down to reflect my move to East Sussex; working in the area that spans the heathlands of Ashdown Forest and the North and South Downs, connecting the city to the sea.
My ‘potting shed’ studio and store at Babylon Garden Centre hosts clients, workshops and a treasure trove of decorative, vintage and antique items for the home. Here I champion small brands, independent makers and creative entrepreneurs. I love a chat, so do pop by.
